Containing the angry sunset

This was an experiment using solid background colours and then scraping another colour along it while the first colour was still wet. This began to take the shape of a mountainous range and the yellow reminded me of that certain time of a sunset when the light starts to react with the clouds and appear to break up into streaks across the sky.

The other colour was added to almost destroy the picture or at least as if you were viewing it through an old window that had the frame painted poorly and the gloss paint had got all over the window. The random streaks in the ‘foreground’ appeared to random to me and so I felt they needed containing so I went around them with a black marker. Acrylic and emulsion on canvas 400mm x 300mm.
